Freddie Rivera  is a Puerto Rican bassist with a lot of swing, rhythm and tumbao. Freddie is actually the bass player with, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico - The Salsa Institution.


Efraín Hernández "Frao"- Puerto Rico

           

 

Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. "Frao" is a master of the Latin Bass with a great musical path and one of the bassists of greater inspiration and influence to other bassists of the latin music style. Efraín Hernández with its focus and dynamic style of playing the bass has managed to situate in the list of the great bassists of the latin music. His extensive resumé includes recordings with several orchestras and band leaders among them:

La Terrífica, Willie Rosario, Sonora Ponceña, Tommy Olivencia, Andy Montañez, Roberto Roena, Cheo Feliciano, Marvin Santiago, Kim de los Santos, Tony Vega, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Domingo Quiñonez and many more.

Joey Hernández - New York

José (Joey) Hernández was born February 10, 1967 in New York City and grew up in the Lower East side of Manhattan and on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. His father, Jose Luis Hernandez, is a famous musician in his own right in Puerto Rico and played guitar and bass with such legends as Mario Hernandez and Arsenio Rodriguez. Jose learned the craft of music from his father and found his own styles reminiscent of bassists such as Fernando Pérez (El Gran Combo),  Efraín Hernández (Tommy Olivencia, Apollo Sound), Edwin Morales (Orquesta Mulenze), and Carlos Rondán (Willie Rosario). José has played with some of the best Salsa Bands in New York City such as Héctor Ramos& his orchestra, Manny Mieles, El Conjunto Imagen, Santiago Cerón, Raulín Rosendo, Cuco Valoy, George Lamond and Los Hermanos Moreno to name a few.

Juan F. Cruz "Paco" - Puerto Rico

Juan F. Cruz has been involved in the music business from a very young age. His passion for the music directs Juan to learn playing the music clarinet and accordion at seven years old. At the teen age the interest for the electric bass started and began playing bass with ballads, Salsa and latin jazz groups. Actually Juan is mastering the Baby Bass under the advice of Ray Ramírez.

Will Andujar - New Jersey

Wilson (Will) Andujar Jr, Born on June 5th 1981 and raised in Trenton, New Jersey. Started playing bass at his church at the age of fourteen. Learned music theory when he went to high school. There he played with the Orchestra, Jazz Band and Gospel Choir. My Influences: Salvador Cuevas, Bobby Valentin, Pedro Perez and Victor Wooten. Israel Cedeño - Japan

Israel Cedeno Jr. (bassist). Born in New York City and raised in Puerto Rico. I start learning guitar self taught at 6 years old, then at 7 years old I learn how to play bass. Years later I joined Escuela Libre De Musica Ponce, Puerto Rico, then joined Instituto De Música Juan Morell Campos and graduated. After studying music for several years I decided the bass would be my principle instrument. I studied privately with Puerto Rican nationally renowned bassist, Freddie Silva who performed with the Puerto Rico Symphony for many years. Then I returned to New York and performed the many of New York's top Latino orchestras and artists' such as Van Lester, Pete Conde Rodriguez, Lalo Rodriguez, Aldalberto Santiago, Larry Harlow and the Latin Legends Band, to name a few. I began to International Tour with David Cedeño and Larry Harlow, this opportunity landed my career in Japan where I continue to perform extensively. In addition, I perform with many of Japan's noted musicians and my musical genre includes; Latin, Jazz, Funk, R & B and Fusion etc... I also teach bass at Miki Gakki PMS in Osaka and Jeugia Forum Oike in Kyoto.


Luis Arnaldo - Yabucoa, Puerto Rico

                                                                              

  At his young age of 15 Luis Arnaldo who born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico is the proud owner of a  Ray Ramirez Baby Bass. Luis Arnaldo Ramos started his Bass studies in 2005 with his current professor Jerry Crespo. His goal is to be a member of the greatest Salsa orchestras of Puerto Rico.Su meta es pertenecer a una de las grandes orquestas de salsa de Puerto Rico. Luis Arnaldo is studying at the Escuela Libre de Música Antonio Paoli of Caguas, Puerto Rico where in addition to the Bass he plays the Lead trumpet of all the music combos in the school.

"Louie “Tito” Rivera born in New York and raised in Santurce, Puerto Rico is currently living in Miami after living in New Orleans for 14 years. He has been performing with various bands covering old school salsa, Latin Jazz and acoustic rock. He is the proud owner of a beautiful Ray Ramirez babybass and is currently working and performing at various festivals and events with a 10-piece salsa band, as well as with a Latin Jazz band, and a Cuban Quintet. Azaris Pijuán Chomat - Italy

  

Bassist of great talent, skilful and professional. Azaris born in the Habana, Cuba.  He starts his musical studies in the guitar at the early age of eight in the Alejandro Gracia Gaturla Music Conservatory of  La Habana, Cuba ending his studies with great success. Azaris is actually collaborating and playing bass with a big list of cuban personalities, among them: Celina González, Lázaro Valdez, Marta Duarte. Azaris arrives to Italy in year 2000 where he was contacted by promoters and organizers of latin festivals in Europe where he met and played with: violinist Alfredo de la Fé, Dany Rojo, Antonio Cartagena, Jerry Galante He also has been the bassist for many years of Cubamania, Agustin Echevarría and Guillermo Espinoza. He is actually working in a new cuban proyect born in Italy called Fito Gress and La Dura.

Valle Magnusson - Sweden

Valle Magnusson live in Stockholm, Sweden, where he is part of different salsa-bands and the eminent Stockholm Bossanova Quartet. This quartet is strongly inspired by the Brazil´65-album which sat the standard for the bossanova-genre for all time. If you ever go to Stockholm, check them out. Mr. Magnusson comments " The Ramirez-bass works as good for both the salsa and brazil-style". He graduated from the Music Academy in 1998 and have since worked as a teacher in both electric and upright bass. He also teaches in jazz-pop- and rock-ensemble playing.


Willie Díaz - Miami, FL

Willie was born in Passaic, New Jersey of puerto rican parents and was raised in Miami, Florida and then move to Puerto Rico for various years. His first instrument was the guitar, then the drums,  congas, bongo, and finally the bass. His first music lesson was in  Puerto Rico with Mr. Jorge Luis Marcano, then he returned to Miami and studied at FIU and  Miami Dade community college. Willie was lucky to play with: Celia Cruz, Richie Ray, Tito Nieves, Julio Castro and his Orquestra "La Masacre", Eddie Santiago, David Pabón, Rey Reyes Lefty Pérez, Roberto Torres and Tito Puente Jr. among others. Now he has his own orchestra (Raices Latinas).


Luis Coss "Gato" - Puerto Rico

Luis is from San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico and has been the bass players of numerous orchestras and renown singers. Among them: Cheo Feliciano, Héctor Tricoche, Pedro Brull, Victor Manuelle, Orquesta Querubín.

Luis comments about his new Travel Mate "Custom Mahogany" It's a real delight to play it and over all an incredible money saver in not having to pay any overweight or oversize in the airports.


Claus Hansen - Denmark

Claus is from Copenhagen, Denmark and is actually playing with various Salsa Cuban Bands that are established in Denmark. Finally his dream came true after having a, Ray Ramírez Caribbean Series Cedar High Curly, in his hands.


Robertito Pérez - Puerto Rico

Robertito Pérez is from Yabucoa, P.R. and started playing the bass at a very young age. Among his Bass teachers are his father Roberto Pérez and his uncle Pedro Pérez who is a very respected and one of the most recorded Latin Bass players.  Actually Robertito is the bass player of the Victor Manuelle's Orchestra. He also has played with Puerto Rican Power Orchestra and NG2 Orchestra. He has recorded with Puerto Rican Power, Gilberto Santa Rosa and  Don Omar, NG2 orchestra to name a few.

Papo Valentín - Puerto Rico

   

Papo is from Salinas, Puerto Rico and has been the bass player of various renowned Salsa artists. Among them: Frankie Ruíz, Tito Rojas, Puerto Rican Power, Guillo Rivera, Roberto Roena and his Apollo Sound. Papo enjoys playing & dancing with his Ramírez Caribbean Series.


Harry Vélez - Georgia

Harry Vélez, resident of Augusta Georgia, became interested in the Baby Bass at an early age. From his childhood in Dover, New Jersey and adolescence in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico, he always had the hope of obtaining a Baby Bass. Fortunately, he met Ray Ramírez, who made his dream come true. Harry is not playing at a professional level, but he’s always ready for a jam session. His musical style preferences are: Salsa, Latin Jazz and Ska. Rafy Pagán - Puerto Rico

Rafy Pagán from Corozal, Puerto Rico started playing music at an early age in family parties and in high school activities. He was so fascinated comping other musicians that he decided for the Bass. Rafy has been playing bass with many ensembles and now has his own orchestra. From his beginning in the bass he has liked the baby bass until he meet Ray Ramírez and his dream come true. Francisco González - New Jersey

Francisco Frankie González, Born and raised in Paterson NJ 10-06-1960. Has been playing salsa and latin music
for 30+ years. He have been living in Bethlehem PA for the past 15 years and have been playing keyboards with local Bands
Sabor Tropical, Hector Rosado Orchestra Ache, have backed up many singers among them Luisito Carrión, Hector Tricoche, Cano Estremera to name a few.

Pedro Pablo Pouchet - Mexico

Pedro Pablo Pouchet is Cuban bassist from El Cerro in La Habana, Cuba. He graduated from  El Conservatorio de música Alejandro Garcia Caturla in La Habana. He has performed in Jazz orchestras, traditional and popular cuban music combos and has been playing in international tours. Laurent Gaudais - France

 

French Bass Player located in Le Marinié, France. Laurent is actually playing Salsa and Latin Jazz with many local Bands and also recording many sessions for different artists. At this time Mr. Gaudais is playing with a very famous French singer called Michele Torr as you can see in the photo. He has many tours in France and abroad as well ( Tunisia, Spain ). They have recorded a DVD live at the Olympia in Paris with M. Torr. He also plays Salsa  in a band called "Age tendre et têtes de bois" and "Salsa Caliente".      Josué Santiago is a young Bass Player (19 Years in year 2004) who lives in Allentown, Pennsylvania and has played with a couple of local bands and enjoys a lot playing his Ramírez White Pearl Composite Series.  Josué is taking bass lessons with Mr. John Benítez (Great Bass player from Puerto Rico and has been playing worldwide with many Jazz Stars). The goals of Josué are to become one of the best bassist in the world and play with all the Salsa bands. Salsa is his main style on the Baby Bass.

Iván Marti - Puerto Rico

Graduated from the Music Conservatory of Puerto Rico. He is a music teacher in the Elementary school and also a professional musician. His first double bass teacher was Mr. Victor Venegas. Mr. Marti has participated in many recording sessions and also has worked with various artists among them: Ismael Miranda , Santitos Colón , Victor Skerrett , Frankie Hernandez(QEPD), El Topo , Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil " Las Américas" , Sergio Cariño, to name a few. His musical influences includes : Salvador Cuevas , Brian Bromberg and Jeff Berlin. Mr. Marti is actually playing with "Tierra Firme" a Latin Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Eduardo Muñiz . Steve Kershaw from England is currently playing with STEKPANNA, Plaza Jazz Trio and Latin From The North latin jazz project. Mr. Kershaw graduated from BIT (Bass Institute of Technology of Los Angeles) with Vocational Honors; he received the Outstanding Vocational Honors Student awards from GHS Strings: and he won the Outstanding Student of the Year award from Fender.

Per Kincaid from Sweden. Currently bassist / writer / arranger for Danish Salsa band Salsa Loca www.salsaloca.dk polled "best live Salsa act" in Denmark 2003.  SALSALOCA is a twelve piece band that has united the Danish Salseros on a scale never before seen with a Scandinavian band. Mr Kincaid received a diploma in bass, percussion and Afro-Cuban Dance from Instituto Superior del Arte, La Habana, Cuba, 2000.  Credits include Danish Radio Pops Orchestra, Jazz quintets, album work with The Brand New Heavies and others.  


Ralph Gutierrez - New York

Rafael Antonio Gutierrez performs with New York based bands. He has been playing bass for 36 years in basically all fields such as Latin, Latin Rock, Rock, Latin Jazz, Rap , Jazz.  Mr. Gutierrez studied classical music for 7 years with Manhattan School of Music professor Robert Taffet and other bass teachers in various musical fields. He's playing currently with "The Latin Jazz Elements".
