Working Tittle: Making graphic navigation style accessible

Abstract: Web sites can use graphics to get attention from users or as a navigation design. When they are used as a navigation tool, the designer must consider the downloading time of graphics and the accessibility for the visually impaired for a well-designed site.

Outline:

Introductory paragraph: presents the situation where a student has to wait a long downloading time to access a course web page on which the main navigation style is a graphic.

Graphic navigation style: describes what is it, how to identify it, type of graphics, when to use it.

Visual: a still graphic showing a graphic navigation style with poor accessibility to users. Below it, will be the same graphic with alternate labels. Users will have the opportunity to see the difference between both and check for links and labels.

Accessibility of a graphic navigation style: describes why make it more accessible, how to increase accessibility.

Visual: animation summarizing points to remember when using a graphic navigation style for a well-designed site.
