These amazing 'beans' come from a tree named 'Sebastiana' that
only grows in Mexico. A little moth lays her eggs on the flower of the tree, and the
larvae starts eating the seed from the inside. While the larvae grows, the outside layer
of the seed starts to get dry and hard, making almost impossible for the larvae to get
out. The 'jumping' movements of the larvae helps these little creatures to move out from
The larvae eventually eats all the soft tissue found inside the
seed, and then they go into a metarphosis stage, which ends in the transformation to a
little moth that can barely escape from the natural craddle.
First, keep in mind that these jumpings beans are ALIVE. That

- The jumping beans dont need to be feed like any other pet, but you
must at least every other day, give them a drop of water. This will refresh the seed,
giving them a break from the endless hours of jumping activity. However, avoid letting
them sink into to water.
- The heat from your closed hands or a bright light is enough to make
them feel warm, and possibly start to jump. However, avoid the overexposure to the heat,
remember they are confined in such a little space, that the temperature will rise very
quick inside the shell!
- Apply other common sense rules about maintaining living things!
