In 1961 José Raúl received a recognition award from the government of Puerto Rico through it's Administración de Parques y Recreo Público for his work in reviving the sport of table tennis in Puerto Rico, a sport that had been dormant for nearly 20 years. As part of this he organized the Federación Estatal de Tenis de Mesa which also was recognized as the official island table tennis organization and held official island wide tournaments for 4 años.
In 1977, on the 50th. anniversary of the Cadena Latinoamericana de Comentaristas de Discos de Méjico through its organization, CADODI, gives José Raúl Ramírez a recognition award for his musical accomplishments.
In May 7, 1994 the Fundación Cultural e Histórica Boriquén awards, at the Museo de Arte de Ponce a recognition with this testimonial: “To José Raúl Ramírez. Danza…ALMA SUBLIME in the history of Ponce music. Heritage and pride of a brave and visionary people. On this night of magisterial execution that your honor authorizes in homage to the legacy Juan Morel Campos, more illusion will be born in Felices Días (Happy Days) of our music; while the patriotic heart follows the same beat of his pentagram own beat. THANK YOU Maestro for sustaining the historic blazon of our DANZA !
For 2 consecutive years José Raúl has been recipient, at the Departamento de Estado, of a testimonial, signed by the Governor of Puerto Rico as part of the celebration of Danza Week.
In 1994 the Club Cívico de Damas de Puerto Rico awards the prize “Premio Urbanidad” with a this statement: “In recognition to José Raúl Ramírez as a a distinction for the beautiful form of building and for leaving a ray o light along his path for future generations.” Given on February 15, 1994 at San Juan, Puerto Rico.
On May 16, 1996 José Raúl receives jointly with the Instituto de Música Juan Morel Campos and the Municipal Government of the city of Ponce and through the Secretaría de Arte y Cultura of the same city a recognition and tribute during the commemoration of the 100th. anniversary of the death of Juan Morel Campos. Activity was celebrated at Teatro La Perla in Ponce.
The Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña awards José Raúl a special recognition for his important work in promoting the puertorican danza during the award ceremony of the Certamen de Danzas on May 15, 1993.
On November 17, 1993 the Academia San Jorge awards José Raúl a recognition plaque that includes this testimony: "The danza is a manifestation of our culture - thank you for sharing with us your knowledge and the marvelous flow of your music, with which you dressed our celebration of Puerto Rico's 500th. anniversary, its people, its religion and its culture.
The Ateneo Puertorriqueño, in a ceremony on Thursday, may 29, 1997, honors José Raúl and awards him the special distinction for his work in the benefit of our culture. On this occasion the Legislature of Puerto Rico joins the Ateneo Puertorriqueño and awards a very special certificate signed by the presidents of the two legislative chambers in puerto rico. La speech about José Raúl Ramírez was prepared and read by Lcdo. Benjamín Rodríguez Ramón.
On 1998 the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña dedicates, for the first time to a puertorican artists the Semana de la Danza for his work for the benefit of our puertorican danza. To begin the activity José Raúl was invited to give a concert-conference about the interpretation of our puertorican danza.
The Gobierno Municipal Autónomo of the city of Ponce dedicates to José Raúl, on February of 1999 the traditional "Baile de la Danza" during the celebration of the 141st. Aniversario del Carnaval Ponceño, through a proclamation a a beautiful trophy that says: "To José Raúl Ramírez for his dedication and devotion on behalf of the art and culture of our people. BAILE DE LA DANZA DEL CARNAVAL PONCEÑO 1999, Signed Hon. Rafael Cordero Santiago, Mayor and Sra. Maruja Candal, Secretary od Art and Culture.
