OSHOSI
In order to understand Oshosi, we must analize his most important symbol, the bow and arrow. The bow and arrow
is a weapon which, through its actions negates time, and space and distance. Oshosi is the idea of lighting speed.
ososi is the idea of the aimed projectile. This concept propelled mankind forward because it influenced warfare,
the gathering of food and clothing, and the transfer of information. Oshosi is associated with communication because
he is the idea of immediate reception of dispatch. ososi thinks and it is done. For thisreason ososi is associated
with telepathy. Oshosi transcends thought in that he represents instant realization.
This idea being associated with wisdom uncovers the reason he is associated with Obatala. he is linked to extreme
intelligence, and cool, calm, logical thinking which he exhibits while in the midst of the hunt. in fact he is so
close to Obatala, that for certain children of obatala, Oshosi is almost important to them as Elegba. ososi is
a reserved orisa, who sits back and watches until called upon to act. Oshosi is also portrayed as a scout and sniper.
Oshosi is the essence of guerilla warfare, in that stealth, the usr of the projectile, and thr art of surprise,
are natural to him. He is the javelin, the spear, the boomerang, the slinshot, the musket, the flintrock, the rocket
launcher, the mortar. Oshosi and Ogun are blood brothers. They have a deep friendship and they hunt together. Oshosi
is th defender of the defenseless and he is the provider for women, children and the aged. Oshosi is symbolizes
by and iron bow and arrow which is usally placed inside of Ogun's cauldron. It is placed inside as a sign of their
pact to hunt together.
