AFRICAN ORISHAS History
It was said that in the beginning, there were no trees, oceans, and rivers; only
fire. This was happening for many millions of years, and vapor was the consequence produced by the fire. A lot
of gases were accumulating forming clouds, which were maintained in space by the will of OLOFI.
Then these clouds filled with water exploded on the fire that was covering the earth. Since it was so immense the
weight of the water, the earth was opened, forming big puddles with today is known as oceans. That is how all the
YEMAYAS's, from OLOKUN to ocuti were born. Then the flames were uniting into one body forming what we know as the
sun, therefore creating the ORISHA ALGAYU; then the ashes from those rocks and other solid bodies were mixing powder,
vapor and humidity and forming into mud and pestilence, there is born BABALUAJE; later the earth was more fertile
and humid giving origin to the flowers and plants, here is born OSAIN. So great was the humidity and vapor that
lakes and canals were being formed giving origin to the rivers, here is born all the OSHUN from IKOLE to IBUINDO.
All the rocks were not burned and threw processes the mountains and hills were formed, here is born OKE; OBATALA
was created by the grace of OLOFI.
