BIOGRAPHY OF MARCELINO VAZQUEZ

Marcelino Vázquez was born in Naranjito, Puerto Rico in 1944. He was initiated into the religion in 1964 when he received NICHE OSAIN from Pancho Mora (Ifa Morote). Afterwards he received his Elekes from Anita Martinez (Baba Guede). He received his Ibora (Warriors) from Roberto Boluffer (Oluwo Ogunda Leni). Later he received ABO-FACA (THE HAND OF IFA) from Ifa Morote. After one year his godmother, Anita Martinez and his Ajubona, Lina Laureano, initiated him in ORISHA. His Oriate was Herminio Valdez. He then received the ceremony of ITEFA from his godfather, Rolando Diaz (Oche Tura) and his Yebon, Jorge Ramirez (Ojuani Lakentu). Thereafter he received the ceremony of WANLE and confirmation of OLOFI with African Oluwo Dayo (Obe Ate); his Yebon was Carlos Collazo (Oche Tura). Finally, Mr. Vazquez received the fundamentals of the SACRED CALABASH OF EXISTENCE (IBA IWA ODU) from the African Oluwo Dr. Afolabi Epega. The Oluwo, Ifalaiye, continues to practice and to promote the religion in Puerto Rico and wherever it is necessary to do so.
