Admiral Reuben Soto

Ever since the beginning of World War III, back on Earth, Admiral Reuben Soto's family has been in the miltary/starfleet life. Through the years, and centuries every male family member, with many female family members, has served in the Militia/Star Fleet. No one had the courage to defy his family's rich history of military personnel. Until one day Daniel Soto, fresh in StarFleet Academy, forced into by his family, dropped out and entered the Vulcan School of Science. When his family heard about this they were outraged, and even offer money to Daniel to stick with their family's tradition. Apparently to them their family's history has more importance than a member of the family own being and individuality. Immediately the Soto family cut away all ties of Daniel. His father, Fleet Capt. Radwin Soto was so outraged and disgraced at his son that he disowned him.

Daniel was stunned to see how ignorant his family was and became very depressed. Through all of this there was something good. It motivated Daniel to work hard on what he always loved, archaeology, and show the universe what he had to give. He majored in Xenoarchaeology , the study of ancient artifacts from other worlds, and races. Daniel Soto graduated with honors and immediately began a line of duty with the Vulcan Archaeology Institute and that same year he married a Exobiologist. Daniel Soto is Admiral Reuben Soto's father.

Admiral Reuben Soto was born in 2338. During his younger years, his parents would go away for weeks sometimes even months on expeditions and digs to many worlds. Because of this he grew up alone. One day in 2346 his mother was watching Reuben play a holosuite game of racquetball. She saw Reuben talking out loud to himself and to the holosuite image which was his opponent. His mother asked him what was he doing and Reuben replied saying that he was counting how long it took the ball to reach a wall and then his racket so he would know where to hit it and to which wall. She was somewhat shocked that he knew so much of probability in this game. Suddenly Reuben interrupted her thinking saying that he talks to his opponent cause his opponent is the only one that he can talk to and that listens. Reuben's mother realized what he meant, also realized he was quite good in logistics and tactics.

His mother took a leave of duty for 4 years and spend great deals of time with her son. Reuben's father would come and go, but spent more time with him than before and he loved to play old war simulations with his son. Reuben grew a relationship with his mother that words cannot describe, she was his best friend, not only mother. In 2350, his Mother restarted her duty. In 2352 Reuben's mother and father was assigned on the same Oberth-class research vessel U.S.S. Bonestell. They decided to bring Reuben along with them, he was 14 years old now and he really wanted to see his parents *in action.* This was very easy "dig and retrieval" dig and the crew was only 21 people plus Reuben. His parents thought since it is so basic it wouldn't be dangerous. A few days later they arrived at there destination and immediately the 1st Team was beamed down and start to dig at the site. Reuben's father, Daniel, was part of the 1st Team. Even though Reuben couldn't go down to the planet, he was able to go all around the ship even to the bridge. He was amazed on how awesome the stars and the planet looked from the bridge.

Nine and a half hours passed and the Bonestell had not received a single response from Away Team 1 since there last report exactly 5 hours ago. So an emergency team was assembled consisting of 2 medical officers, the chief security officer, 2 other security officers and one Exobiologist which was Reuben's mother. Reuben just knew she shouldn't go down, but she insisted. On the ship, it was discovered that a atmospheric distortion clouds prevented prefect communication. Communication could be received for only 4 min. every 1 hour, so the emergency team could only contact the ship in 1 hour intervals for a matter of 4 min. On the third "communication opening," the emergency team reported that ALL of Team 1 was dead, the means unknown. They had no phaser marks or any other burns on their bodies. The medical officer analysis believed it to be some form of unknown virus, and they came to the conclusion that they must be already infected. So the emergency team were beamed directly in a quarantined cube in med. lab. Reuben was there in med. lab to receive his mother. He still hadn't realize the truth of his father's death, until he saw his mother through the glass? Perplexed, he whispered to his mother the words "I love you" and walked away.

Few hours later the Capt. decided that NO teams were to be beamed down on the surface. At that very moment the chief security officer died in the quarantined cube. The doctor needed more time, and more personnel, better equipment, but the nearest star base was 8 hours away at Max. Warp, and the infected team had at the most 5 hours to live. A distress signal was sent out and the Ensign started to plot a course to the nearest star base, with little hope for the Reuben's mother and the others to survive. Right before the course was laid in, a ship was detected and with no warning started shooting at the science vessel. Reuben was at the bridge at the time. He turned to the display on the nearest relay, it said UNKNOWN CONFIGURATION. Suddenly something hit his back with a thump, he turned around to see an officer, a dead officer. Then the captain gave the order to abandoned ship. While Reuben was running to the escape pod, he knew who was attacking them. His feelings and gut instinct told him without a doubt who it was: the Romulans! He raged out loud thinking of his mother.

Reuben's escape pod was the last pod to be ejected from the ship. On the very same day, the StarFleet vessel U.S.S. Cumberland Sound, NCC-21240 Miranda-class Frigate, was in the sector and was able to pick up Reuben's escape pod along with 6 other members of the crew of the Bonestell. From that day on, he set a personal vow to dedicate his life to fight the Romulans and to seek revenge for his parent's death. To do this he decided, when he is of age, to join Starfleet.

The day after his 17th birthday (date: 2355), Reuben joined Starfleet and entered the Starfleet Academy. He felt joy, excitement, and a sense of his first step toward revenge when he entered the academy's facilities in San Francisco. In the Academy, Reuben studied for 5 years and then in 2360 graduated as an Ensign and was sent to his first ship, the Tian Nan Men, NCC-21382 Miranda-class Frigate, and served under Captain Bradford for 2 years. He then decided to return to the Academy to study in the Graduate schools: College of Engineering and College of Technology. He was able to graduate at the top of his class in only 3 years and then got assigned to the U.S.S. Kyushu, NCC- 65491 New Orleans-class Frigate with the rank of Lt. (j.g.) as Tactical Officer assistant. Reuben moved up the ranks to Lieutenant and at 2372, he was promoted to Lt. Cmdr. after his heroic acts in the Battle of Wolf 359 in which he was able to save the bridge crew and many civilians but severed his right arm. Star Fleet Medical implanted Reuben with a mechanical right arm with human skin grafted to it to look more "human".

After the Battle of Wolf 359, Lt. Cmdr. Reuben asked for reassignment to the Star Fleet Marine Corps Special Operations, where he thinks he can more personally take revenge on the Romulans for his parent's deaths. He is assigned aboard the U.S.S. Endless Night NCC-75010 where the Death Walkers Squadron is located at. There Lt. Cmdr. Reuben meets Cmdr. Rene Rios who would become more than a mentor but a friend. After 5 years in the Corps, Lt. Cmdr. Reuben is reassigned to the newly commissioned U.S.S. Bataan NCC-78310 where he goes up the ranks to Captain.

In 2371, the Dominion become known to the Alpha and Beta Quadrant. One day while Fleet Captain Reuben Soto was reading daily reports, he came across a datapad directly from Starfleet headquarters. On the datapad was information on the Dominion and specs on one of their ships. The pictures and specs was familiar to Fleet Capt. Reuben. He remember seeing it a long time ago, but couldn't remember where. No, it couldn't be. Who really killed his parents back in his childhood was the dreaded Jem'Hadar, not the Romulans!

Since Fleet Capt. Reuben had experience with the Jem'Hadar before, Starfleet assigned him for one year to gather intelligence reports about the Jem'hadar technology, but during that time his attitude, motivation, and percent of dedication he gives to StarFleet lowers greatly. He was devastated that he killed some many (in his way of thinking) Romulans with a vengeance on those Spec Ops missions with the Starfleet Marine Corp. One day, Fleet Capt. Reuben entered his C.O.'s office and asked to be relocated to some far-off scientific station where he would never be bothered about the Jem'Hadar and the Romulans again. His C.O. denied the request and logged the request his database. Disappointed, Fleet Capt. Reuben went back to his quarters.

At his arrival to his quarters, he discovers his terminal has an awaiting call for him from some Fleet Admiral named Amit Misra and C-in-C Quinn. He was shocked that the commander in chief called him (of course through a secure channel). Immediately Fleet Capt. Reuben authorized the call. C-in-C Quin appeared and told Fleet. Capt. Reuben that he heard about his request of relocation and that he had an assignment that could "fulfill" his request. Fleet Admiral Amit informed Fleet Captain Soto that the U.S.S. Monarch would pick him up in exactly 1 hour. Then the call ended. Shocked, confused, and stilling trying to capture all of what had just happened in last 5 mins., Fleet Capt. Reuben started packing.

Ever since joining Area 001, Admiral Soto has shown his exemplary actions in current events and what a great asset he has been in this facility. He gained his rank of Vice Admiral after been able to retake the station from Fleet Adm. Kensler after the small internal conflict. He has now been made Chief of Staff of Base Operations where he overlooks all of our Fleet Yard facilities and Star bases. He is also Chief Tactician and in charge of Task Force Echo.
