Thomas Wiewandt is a freelance nature photographer, independent publisher,
and owner of a photographic safari business. He has studied art and
science, and the Mona Iguana film is based on his Ph.D. research at
Cornell.
His films for the National Geographic Society and the BBC have
earned him an Emmy Nomination in cinematography, four
CINE Golden Eagles and a Gold Apple Award.
His still photographs have been featured in Audubon,
Arizona Highways, Smithonian, National Wildlife,
German GEO, OMNI and publications by the National
Geographic Society, among others.
His first children's book, Hidden Life of the Desert (Crown, 1990),
made the John Burrough's List of Outstanding Nature Books for Young Readers.
